Where do you meet? Teams meet on the north shore of Tempe Town Lake inside the gated boat storage area. The boat storage area is surrounded by a tall black fence. The address is Tempe Town Marina, 550 E Tempe Townlake, Tempe, AZ 85281.
What should I wear? Wear clothes and shoes for working out that you don’t mind getting a bit wet. While we don’t go in the water, you may get splashed. Dragon boat is a water sport!
What should I bring with me? At least 40 ounces of water. Electrolytes, if you need them. We provide the paddles and PFDs (lifejackets).
Do I just show up? First, contact the team via the Contact Us form on their page and communicate with the Coach or Captain of the team so that they know you are coming. Then make sure to fill out a Guest Waiver before you arrive!
Do I need experience? Almost all teams welcome new paddlers and they can help you learn dragon boat paddling! If you have any questions, contact the Team you’re interested in!
Do teams practice year round? Almost all teams practice year round but coaches are careful to watch the wind and weather any time their team goes out. Safety of our members is our number one priority.
How much does it cost? Guests receive 30 days of unlimited paddling for free! After 30 days, you can choose which membership best fits your situation. For example, adults pay $175 each year which is only about $15 a month. Membership dues are paid once per year in June.
