AZDBA Teams
Phoenix Fire Dragons (PFD) is a diverse paddling team that emerged in 2013, which initially consisted of Arizona’s healthcare community but has since expanded to include members from all walks of life and occupations. Our essence combines the competitive spirit of dragon boat racing with the foundational principles of Yin and Yang – highlighting balance, unity, and strength through diversity. Phoenix Fire Dragons competes both as a mixed gendered team and as a women’s team (Phoenix Haboobs) during competitions.
Our activities stretch beyond the competitive arena, where we participate in 2-3 festivals a year, to include team-building exercises and community service. The focus is as much on performance as it is on the shared experiences and bonds formed off the water.
PFD is more than just a team; it’s a community where everyone’s unique background is valued and contributes to our collective strength. Whether you’re drawn to the physical challenge, the teamwork, or the chance to be part of a group that’s as serious about making a difference as it is about having fun, PFD might just be the place for you.
